This legal statement covers the operation of the main website of The England Society, which is located at http://www.englandsociety.org.uk and any project websites operated by us unless specifically stated otherwise.


This statement does not extend to any other organisation or website that may be linked to from our site. We accept no responsibility for any linked site as the site contents may change without our knowledge since first being linked.


Funding


The England Society is funded by donations, subscriptions from members and commercial activities such as merchandising and organising events. We do not receive any funding from central or local government or quangos.


Any external funding from other organisations will be publicised on our site. Annual accounts will be publicly available on our website at each year end.


Management


The England Society is managed day-to-day by a board of directors. The board takes all commercial decisions and is responsible to the membership for the safe and ethical management of the Society. Our commercial partners each nominate a member to sit on our advisory committee which oversees our operations. The England Society also maintains a board of patrons who provide counsel and profile.


Providing Visitors With Anonymous Access


You can access our website home page and browse most of our site without disclosing your personal data. IP addresses are collected for the purpose of statistical analysis and preventing unauthorised access to certain areas.


Automatic Collection of Information


We do not automatically log personal data, nor do we link information automatically logged by other means with personal data about specific individuals.


Data Collection And Purpose Specification


We only collect the personal data that you specifically volunteer whilst using our services; all data so collected will only be used for the specific purpose(s) so described at time of collection.

We do not collect personal information about our visitors from other sources, such as public records or bodies, or private organisations.


Under the Data Protection Act, we have a legal duty to protect any personal information we collect from you. We do not pass on your details to any third party or government department or agency unless you give us permission to do so or the law requires it.

We may use third-party tools and websites for the collection and maintenance of non-personal data; for example, the capture and analysis of visitor traffic statistics for our website.


Disclosure And Visitor Choice


We do not disclose your personal data to other organisations unless you have given your consent. You may revoke this consent at any time.


Confidentiality / Security


At the moment, we do not give visitors to our website the option of using a secure transmission method to send us their personal data.

All our employees and data processors, who have access to, and are associated with the processing of personal data, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of our visitors' personal data.

We ensure that your personal data will not be disclosed to State institutions and authorities except if required by law or other regulation.


Access To The Personal Data We May Hold About You


Members have access via our website to the personal data that we keep about them. This can be viewed and edited on your profile page.

Upon written request we will provide you with a printed copy of the personal data which we keep about you, within the period deemed appropriate by current UK Data Protection legislation. We may require additional proof of your identity prior to disclosure and we will generally provide the information free, but depending upon the complexity of the request we may charge a fee of £10.

We allow you to challenge the data that we hold about you and, where appropriate, you may have the data:

  • erased
  • rectified or amended
  • completed

Privacy Compliance


We endeavour to ensure that our privacy policy is at all times compliant with the UK Data Protection Act 1998 (and any subsequently modifying legislation).

We are subject to independent supervision by the Information Commissioner's Office, whose website can be found at http://www.ico.gov.uk . Our registration number with the ICO is pending.
